About Dr. James E. Gilbert

Dr. Gilbert is the President and CEO of the Metro Orthopaedics & Sports Therapy division in Silver Spring, Maryland. A specialist in sports medicine, Dr. Gilbert did his fellowship with Dr. Robert Jackson at the Tom Landry Sports Medicine & Research Center in Dallas, Texas.

Following undergraduate education at Amherst College, Dr. Gilbert moved on to postgraduate studies at Princeton University, before heading to Georgetown University for medical school, and residency at Duke University.

Dr. Gilbert has served as the head team physician in professional soccer for over 15 years with US Soccer, DC United, the Washington Freedom, and the Washington Spirit. He has also served as an assistant team physician and consultant for Duke Sports Medicine, the Dallas Cowboys, the Dallas Mavericks, the Professional Bull Riders Association, and the Special Olympics. Through his practice, he provides care for many area high schools and athletes in the Washington, D.C. area.
